Absentee Ballot Information for Municipal Elections
Absentee Ballots are now available for the upcoming municipal election to be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Please note that there is no provision for “early voting” under Alabama law. To vote absentee one of the specific conditions listed below must be met. This is a two-step process requiring an application accompanied by a copy of the voter ID, before the ballot is issued. Absentee ballots applications will be received in person at City Hall through August 21, 2025 or received by mail by through August 19, 2025. Ballots voted in person must be returned not later than the day prior to the election, if not completed at the same time the application is returned. Ballots sent by mail must arrive not later than noon on election day. When voting by mail, please allow adequate time for postal delivery and affix proper postage. Ballots received after the deadline will not be counted. No ballot application and no ballot may be returned by a person other than the voter himself or herself with the exception of medical emergency ballots within five days of the election certified by a physician. A business emergency ballot may be voted in person within five days of the election upon an oath that it was unknown that the voter would be sent out of town on business before that time.
